Lesson 5 of 6, about 4 minutes to read

Reading a price chart

Lines and candles, time windows, and the difference between volume and liquidity.

A line chart joins prices over time. A candlestick chart shows four prices for each period: where it opened, its high, its low and where it closed. Neither predicts the next move. They show what already happened.

A percentage change depends on the window. A token can be up over 24 hours and down over the last hour. PINGO shows 5-minute, 1-hour, 6-hour and 24-hour changes side by side for that reason.

Volume is not liquidity

Volume is how much was traded during a period. Liquidity is how much sits in pools ready to trade against. High volume on low liquidity means the price can swing hard on fairly small orders.

PINGO's asset pages draw a live line from prices collected while the page is open. Candles will come once a licensed source for them is in place.

A token is up 40% in 24 hours and its pools hold $20,000. What is the main risk of buying $5,000?
